Description

Ski-in, spa, and mountain air at 2,000 meters—your chalet on the Lauchernalp

Put on your ski boots in the morning, take a few steps—and you’re already sitting in the gondola. Come back in the evening, head to the sauna and the hot tub. Live where others go on vacation: This well-maintained, light-filled chalet at 2,000 meters above sea level is located in the heart of the Lötschental UNESCO site. In winter, the alp is car-free. Chalets in this location rarely come on the market.

  • True ski-in/ski-out—only about 50 m to the gondola, no lugging skis
  • Car-free ski area in winter – Peace and quiet instead of traffic; children can play safely outside
  • Guaranteed snow from 2,000 m to 3,111 m – Fun on the slopes well into spring
  • South-facing balconies – sun from morning to evening
  • Private spa with sauna, sanarium, and jacuzzi – relax after a day of skiing without leaving the house
  • 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 4 toilets – no waiting for the bathroom, even with guests
  • Sold furnished – move in right away and enjoy the season
  • Snowmobile with permit and ATV included – stay mobile on the alp, summer and winter

For families and those who enjoy the good life

The open living and dining area with a wood-burning stove and plenty of windows is the heart of the home. The large master bedroom, located in the attic, features a walk-in closet, bathroom, workspace, and balcony. Underfloor heating and a heated ski room ensure comfort during the mountain winter. Additionally, there is a garage space with an electric door and 3 outdoor parking spots.

For Investors

The chalet can be rented out. If you’re not using it yourself, you can generate income by renting it to vacationers—a clear advantage in a ski resort with direct access to the slopes.

Potential for the Future

According to the owner, an expansion to include an additional building is conceivable thanks to a pre-built connecting tunnel. An outdoor pool or spa facility would also be possible.

Location

Lauchernalp, located above Wiler, offers skiing at altitudes exceeding 3,000 m in winter and hiking trails right outside the property in summer, such as the Lötschentaler Höhenweg.

Situation

The chalet is located on the Lauchernalp, above Wiler in the Lötschental, one of the most unspoiled valleys in the Valais. Part of the valley is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Swiss Alps: Jungfrau-Aletsch.” The landscape here is characterized by traditional wooden houses, unspoiled nature, and a panoramic view stretching from the Lötschenlücke to the Valais Alps.

In winter, the alp is car-free and accessible by gondola from Wiler. The ski area extends up to 3,111 m and is known for its reliable snow conditions. In summer, hikes begin right in front of the house, most notably along the famous Lötschentaler Höhenweg.

Despite its quiet location, transportation links are good: the Bernese Oberland and Bern are quickly accessible via the Lötschberg using the Kandersteg–Goppenstein car ferry. Heading out of the valley, the route leads into the Rhone Valley toward Visp and Brig.

Municipality

Wiler is a small, unspoiled mountain village in the German-speaking Upper Valais. It lies at an elevation of about 1,400 meters in the Lötschental, the largest northern side valley of the Rhône, and has a population of just under 600.

Wiler is the gateway to Lauchernalp. Since the construction of the cable car and ski lifts in 1972, the alp has developed into the tourist and sports hub of the entire valley.

The Lötschental is surrounded by numerous three-thousand-meter peaks; it is quiet and unspoiled. The village centers still feature historic wooden houses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Living traditions are part of everyday life here, such as Blessing Sunday and the famous Tschäggätta masks.

Getting there is easy: Regional trains between Bern, Thun, Spiez, and Brig stop in Goppenstein; from there, the PostBus takes you down into the valley.

Access

By car, drive through Goppenstein into the Lötschental valley, past Ferden and Kippel, to Wiler, where the cable car’s valley station is located. There is a paid parking lot and a parking garage available there.

By train, you can reach Goppenstein directly on the Bern–Thun–Spiez–Brig line. From there, the PostBus will take you to the valley station in Wiler in about 10 minutes.

In winter, Lauchernalp is car-free; access is convenient via the cable car. It’s only about 50 meters from the chalet to the mountain station. A tracked vehicle with the necessary permits is also available for luggage and shopping.

In summer, the alp can also be reached by car via a mountain road from Wiler, for which a permit is required. The three outdoor parking spaces and the garage space at the house are then available for your use.

Shops/stores

Shopping and Dining

For your daily needs, there is a Volg store right at the valley station in Wiler. It’s open daily from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Groceries can also be ordered and delivered up to the Lauchernalp mountain station.

In Wiler, there is also the Rieder Butcher Shop.

At the Lauchernalp mountain station itself, you’ll find the Sporthaus Lauchernalp, which offers ski rentals and sporting goods and is open in winter. In addition, there are two casual dining restaurants and two inns with restaurants, including the panoramic restaurant at the mountain station.
